CO2 Egg Crash Cars for Spring 2006 For my second year students, we attempted for the first time the construction of cars which would protect a hard boiled egg from breaking as it hurtled down the track. The purpose of this was to look at the safety aspects of automobile manufacturing and try to incorporate them into their designs. This was a new twist to the regular old CO2 cars, and the students really enjoyed the challenge. All of the students succeeded in making a car which would protect their eggs while they traveled down a 40 foot track and crashed into a pillow. We then reduced the distance to 25 feet and added a block of wood for them to run into. They didn't fair so well at that point. Better results are predicted for 2007.
