All About Me
I was born in Birmingham, Alabama but moved to Fort Worth when I was almost two years old. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education from Texas Tech University. Go Red Raiders! After encouragement from my father, I went on to get my Masters from Texas Christian University while teaching school. My father believed in the power of education and worked his way through law school. He helped fight for workers rights as a member of the National Labor Relations Board. He has always been an inspiration for me to do my best and help others in the process.
I have twenty years of teaching experience. My first ten years I taught second and third grades. I am happy to say this is my tenth year at Blanton Elementary as the ESL teacher. I enjoy helping students who speak another language through listening, speaking, reading and writing. It is amazing to watch students make language growth so quickly.
I am married with two young men in college. Alex is attending the University of Oklahoma at Norman in the Price School of Business. Michael enjoys Microbiology and Computer Science. He is studying at the University of Texas in Dallas because they have a wonderful Science Department. As a family we enjoy traveling to places around the world and experience different cultures. In the summer of 2007 we had an exciting trip to Europe and visited Germany, Italy, France and the Netherlands. My husband is a great driver and can navigate the roads of any country. I enjoy sharing my travels with the students. I love to take pictures and buy books from many countries. I enjoy making scrapbooks of our many adventures so I can cherish the memories forever.
