Mr. Kelson was born in Texas City, 1961 to Ed and Jerry Kelson. Ed was Head football coach at Kirwin High school in Galveston in 1952-1954 and later became Football, Basketball and swimming coach and Athletic director at Texas City High from 1955 to 1964. Jerry was a Physical Education instructor and Science teacher for Vivian Field Jr. high in CFBISD from 1969 to 1986. Mr. Kelson’s older brother Mike was an All-American offensive tackle for the University of Arkansas 1968-1973 and started in the Big Shootout of 69 versus Texas. His younger brother Karl is also an educator in the Denton ISD as well as his older sister Karla, an elementary school teacher for Plano ISD. Nephew Scott Shelby teaches History for Irving ISD. Kevin is a handiwork of the CFBISD educational system attending McLaughlin elementary, Vivian Field Jr. high and graduating from R.L.Turner in 1980. Kevin started on the 1980 baseball team that went to the state semi-finals under Legendary Baseball Coach David Hall. After working for General Electric for 15 years, Kevin went back to college and finished his teaching degree majoring in Health and Special Education. He graduated from Texas A&M-Commerce in 1999 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree. Mr. Kelson is married to his beautiful wife Sherry. They have been blessed with two sons, Logan Michael 24 and Kyle Joseph 8. Mr. Kelson is in his 7th year at Ranchview.
