Kidspiration

In Social Studies, students were learning about what special events people celebrate and how they celebrate them. Using Kidspiration, students made a bubble map to show several celebrations. They then added on to those bubbles with details showing how those events are celebrated.

As part of a Spelling Lesson, students used Kidspiration to practice vocabulary words. They chose a word that was either difficult for them to spell or one for which they didn't know the definition. They completed the vocabulary word template to help them practice the word. See the sample below.

Microsoft Word

As part of their Language Arts studies, second grade students learned about the components of a fairy tale. As a summative activity, students worked in their writing journals to rewrite a fairy tale. They then typed their fairy tales in Microsoft Word and illustrated the pages. These stories were put together like a book and shared with the class in the reading center. In Social Studies, students learned about important people who have contributed to society in some way throughout our history. Students chose an important contributor and did some basic research. The link below is to a webpage that the students used to do their research.
