I was born in Dallas, TX, so I am a true native. I went to White Rock Elementary, Lake Highlands Jr. High, & Lake Highlands High School. I graduated in 1976. From there I went to Richland Jr. College, SMU, then a private Christian college, back to Richland, and finally ended up at North Texas. I've majored in marketing, switched to interior design, and finally came back to education and my love of children. All through college I had worked at daycares and did private tutoring. I graduated from North Texas State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. The first two years I taught were in a private Christian school in Denton, TX. I taught 3rd grade the first year and a combined class of 5th & 6th graders the second year. After that I came to Dallas and taught 6th grade in another private school. I left teaching for a short while and returned to teach art in a middle school, then 4th grade. After a year with a very difficult principal, (which makes me appreciate Mr. C. so much!) I left teaching and went into the business world. |

I worked for a corporate housing company for about 5 yrs. as an
Operations & Accounting Manager. I also worked as a Budget Analyst for
American Airlines for 3 yrs. During that time I came to miss teaching so
much I could hardly stand it. I joined Furneaux (the best decision of my
career) in 1997 as the art teacher and moved into 5th grade in 2001. I
love really getting to know the kids and hope that I can make a positive
difference in their lives. I just finished my master's degree in Geosciences this summer. Woo Hoo! My interests, outside of school, include scroll saw work, needlework (all kinds), making flowers from ribbon, gardening, and reading. I have been married for nearly 10 years. My husband is a Security Guard and a Raku artist. We live in Farmers Branch and have 1 dog and 2 cats. Our long-term goal is to develop Sunridge Christian Ranch, a family project that's been in the works for 10½ years. We hope to establish the camp in Colorado. |
