International Business Academy

                                    Creating Future Global Business Leaders

The International Business Academy was created to allow students interested in business to study a sequence of business courses at the high school level. They are equipped to determine a more specific college major while earning dual credit hours in high school.

Since the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex has been an important location for international trade and commerce in the global economy, The International Business Academy has taken advantage of these resources for our students. The IBA curriculum was designed to offer students in grades 9-12 a challenging business, cultural, language and technology curriculum specifically to educate them concerning this competitive environment. Students are not only exposed to the vast field of careers associated with business, but also prepared to compete with peers entering post secondary study, the world of work or an entrepreneurial challenge.

Travel is an important component of the International Business Academy.  We take field trips each semester associated with the current IBA course. We believe the world is our learning lab. The students acquire knowledge learned in the classroom while our field trips allow them to see and hear those concepts and theories in real world applications. We take a domestic trip each year to a major metropolitan area to explore the business environment. Our annual international trip allows the students to explore other parts of the world, exposure to other cultures, and application of the languages they have learned with business connections throughout our travels.

Each year several of our students are National Merit finalists or National Merit semi-finalists due to their high SAT scores and/or in the top 10% of their graduating class. The majority of our students graduate on the Distinguished Achievement Graduation Plan. The IBA student has the option of graduating with as many as 28 dual credit hours. Every student must take at least one Pre-AP or AP course per semester, per year.

The IBA graduated its 6th graduating class in May 2008. Our graduates are currently enrolled in universities such as Baylor University, Boston University, Julliard School- New York, Indiana University, Loyola University Chicago, Northwestern University –Chicago, Oklahoma State University, Southern Methodist University, Stephen F. Austin University, Texas A& M University, Texas Christian University, Texas Tech University, Tulane University, University of California Los Angeles, University of North Texas, University of Oklahoma, University of Rochester,  University of Texas at Austin, , William Jewel College, and appointments to the: Merchant Marines and United States Navy.

The International Business Academy is a unique curriculum for students that want to excel in high school, travel and develop a strong business foundation for any career they choose, as well as earning college credits.
