When learning a piece:
Listen several times while following along. Find other recordings if you can! Either find an online translation and/or look up any words you don't know! (Go to http://www.wordreference.com/ )
To be successful you will need feedback! Most students will need to be critiqued at least 6-8 times before contest. It does not take long (long enough to have M. Hardy listen and give feedback. The first time is the longest!)
Own the piece! When you feel as though you understand the work and feel close to it do not be limited by M. Hardy's recording! How do YOU feel when saying it? What do the sounds and images evoke in your mind and spirit? Have fun with it!
Taking a vocab quiz? Study ahead in your book! Read!
Doing the culture test? Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France to begin reading!
Doing sight reading? The best preparation is to read aloud anything! From your text, online, etc
