The school year has begun and the art room is slowly in the process of producing art. For the first two days of art the students designed a sketchbook and we are slowly making our marks in the pages. I am having the students get in the habit of focusing on an idea for five whole minutes, which allows them to open up their minds for the remainder of instruction time. So far, we have been very successful and I have been really impressed with our "sketch time." The older students are encouraged to take the sketchbooks out of the classroom with the understanding that it is their responsibility to bring it back the very next time they attend art.
Here is a synopsis of what the different grade levels are working on:
Kindergarten will be learning about thick and thin lines.
First grade will be learning about lines with Oaxacan animals.
Second grade will be learning about lines in buildings.
Third grade will be learning review lines with illuminated letters.
Fourth grade will be learning about contour lines.
Fifth grade will be reviewing lines.
Hooraaay!!!! Art Club is back! It will be available to students that are in the 4th & 5th grade. Art Club will be on Monday afternoons beginning at 3:10 and ends at 4:00pm. Art Club will be held on Mondays.
The theme for this year's PTA Reflection contest will be, "Beauty is. . .."
