Reading Improvement

Reading Improvement is a mixed-grade class intended for students requiring extra reading practice. With the Read180 computer program, students proceed at their own pace. In addition to the Read180 program, students receive individualized tutoring and read intensively as a whole class, in small groups, and individually. The class has been double-blocked in order to provide students with intensive reading instruction.

Reward System

Individual Rewards:

Certificate of Accomplishment
50 points - a personal set of earbuds to use with the iPods
100 points - a coupon to take a period off from classwork (valid only in A9; one period only)

Class Rewards:

500 points - When the class earns 500 points, they will earn a replacement mouse for the computer of their choice (if necessary).
750 points - When the class earns 750 points, the class will earn a replacement headset for computer use (if necessary).
1000 points - When the class earns 1000 points, they will receive an ice cream party.
1250 points - When the class earns 1250 points, the class will earn a replacement headset for computer use (if necessary).
1500 points - When the class earns 1500 points, they will receive a pizza party.
1750 points - When the class earns 1750 points, the class will earn a replacement mouse for computer use (if necessary).
2000 points - When the class earns 2000 points, they will receive a pizza and ice cream party.
