Science Fair Investigation Notebook
I. Title page -Include title of investigation, student’s name, school, date,
and teacher’s name
II. Problem page -State the problem as a question. Include at least one
paragraph about the problem you’re investigating and why
you chose it.
III. Research page(s) -Include at least 2-3 paragraphs detailing the information you
learned while researching for your investigation.
IV. Bibliography page -Cite at least three sources you used to obtain research about
your investigation. These must follow the bibliography
format given in your handouts.
V. Hypothesis page -Give a clear and concise hypothesis written as an “If… then…” statement. Include at least one paragraph detailing why you choose the position you did.
VI. Materials page -List everything needed to complete your experiment.
VII. Procedure page -Write the step-by-step process followed in your experiment.
VIII. Data page -Organize all data collected during the experiment (using charts, tables, graphs). You can also include diagrams and drawings made from your data. All measurements must me in metric units.
IX. Conclusion page -Write 2-3 paragraphs explaining the data from your experiment. Decide whether or not your hypothesis was correct (valid, right). Give at least 1-2 paragraphs explaining your conclusion. Use specific data from your experiment to support your conclusion. If your hypothesis was incorrect, give possible reasons why.
X. Acknowledgements -Take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank anyone who helped you through your investigation. This may include your teachers, parents, experts, human subjects, etc.
