Student Podcasts Projects
Fluency - We each picked a Dr. Seuss book and recorded ourselves doing a cold reading. That means we read it out loud without practicing it first. We noticed that it was a lot of word by word reading. It was choppy and it was hard to make a picture in our heads about what was happening. Even though we could read all the words, it didn't sound like when we hear our teacher or the librarian read.
Then we worked on Fluency. We talked about how we have to practice at a lot of things before we get better. Reading is the same way. We have to practice so that the words flow and it sounds natural. It does not mean reading as fast as we can, but we read faster because it sounds more natural. Listen to me read with Fluency by clicking on the link.
