Newman Smith had an AWESOME preliminary performance and made it to the finals competition. The band placed 6th overall in State! Or, as someone so aptly put it: "There were 240 bands in the competition. When you do the math, it means that we were in the top 2% !" Awesome job, guys! Go Trojan Band!!10/26/09

The Lion Marching band competed this past weekend at the Carrollton Tournament of Champions at Standridge Stadium in a field of 21 bands including some of the best 5A groups in the Metroplex such as Hebron, Wylie, Rowlett, Allen, and others. The band narrowly missed finals (by one place) and won their respective class (we are checking, but we believe this is the first time that has happened since the band started attending this contest!) We are very proud of their accomplishment and appreciate all the support from the staff who attended this weekend, and those who help us get students to rehearsals, help with tutorials, and support our kids every day-thanks!
