10/28/09Shepard Named Educator of the Year by Texas Speech Communication Association
Robert Shepard, Communication Applications teacher and Director of Forensics at Creekview High School, was named the 2009-2010 Secondary Educator of the year by the Texas Speech Communication Association (TSCA).
The Texas Speech Communication Association is open to any communication educator, communication student, communication consultant, or any individual interested in learning about the field of speech communication. All levels of instruction and areas of interests are represented in the association.
“I was extremely proud, humbled, and speechless to be named Secondary Educator of the year by TSCA," Shepard states. "I thank TSCA for the opportunity to pursue my professional interests with confidence, pride, and the ability to hold to my strong beliefs in educating children."
A native of Kansas City Missouri, Shepard joined the Creekview staff in 2005. During his tenure the Creekview Competitive Speech Team has produced state finalist teams along with a two time dramatic interpretation state champion.
Shepard, a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University, is currently working on a Masters of Educational Administration at Lamar University.
Prior to accepting a teaching position at Creekview, Shepard taught at Duncanville High School, Plano Senior and Kansas City Central High School. This being his 20th year of teaching, Shepard looks at his students as his success, not the trophies. “He is the consummate educator and coach.” Cyndi Boyd, Principal of Creekview states.
Shepard currently is the Vice President of the Texas Forensic Association and will become President in 2010
