Newman Smith Orchestra:

Junior orchestra student Thao Huynh, once again, has been selected to the top All-State Orchestra  for the 2nd year in a row. There were approximately 250 top violinists who auditioned for this prestigious honor and Thao came in No. 8 in the state. Last year she ranked 23 overall and has moved up considerably this year against some very talented students state wide. She will be traveling to San Antonio in February to perform in the All-State Symphony Orchestra at the Texas Music Educators Convention. BRAVO! to Thao and please congratulate her if she is in any of your classes.

Creekview Orchestra:

It is our pleasure to announce that senior MARTIN LAZO was accepted into the All-State Orchestra!  Thousands of students across Texas audition for the privilege of performing with the All-State Band, Choir, or Orchestra and only the best of the best are selected.  The process starts at the beginning of school and, for Orchestra, was finally concluded this past weekend.  Martin will be performing in February with all the other students selected into these prestigious organizations at the Texas Music Educator’s Association Conference in San Antonio.  Thousands of music educators and administrators from Texas and other states come to this conference every year as well as many representatives from colleges and universities around the country.  We are so happy to have Martin represent Creekview High School Orchestra!

Newman Smith Band

Congratulations to NSHS Band senior member Brandon Bateman who was selected to the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble on tenor saxophone. Brandon was selected back in September as one of the top 2 tenor saxes in our region and was judged against the top tenor saxophones from the other 27 regions in Texas. Only the top 2 players are selected for state so this is quite an accomplishment. This is the 2nd year in a row that the NSHS Band has had a student selected to perform with the Texas All-State Jazz Ensemble.

Brandon will be traveling to the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio this February and will be perform with the top 20 high school jazz students in the state. Congratulations Brandon!
