Melody - Students
will learn to read, write and perform Do, Re, Mi. So, La, High Do, Low La and
Low So.
We we also continue to refine our treble clef note reading skills. 5
lines: E - G - B- D - F and 4 spaces: F- A- C- E.
Rhythm - 4th graders will review the value of whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes and sixteenth notes. This year we will be introduced to syncopated and dotted rhythms.
Harmony - Students will learn crossover borduns on the Orff instruments and will accompany themselves on pitched and non pitched percussion instruments while playing repeated patterns called ostinati.
Recorders - We will begin playing recorders in January. If you would like to have a recorder for practice at home, you may purchase one for $5.00. It is not required to purchase a recorder. The first thing we learn on the recorder are the notes B A G.
