Melody - Students will learn to read, write and perform the pitches Do Re Mi So La

Rhythm - The goal for rhythm in 2nd grade is to be able to read, write and perform quarter note, quarter rest, eighth note and half note patterns on body percussion and percussion instruments. ie:  Xylophones, glockenspiels, tambourines, hand drums.

Harmony - 2nd grade students will accompany themselves with simple bordun patterns on Orff instruments.  The patterns will require students to play both hands together and to alternate hands from left mallet to right mallet.  We will also use instrumental and vocal ostinato (repeated patterns) to accompany ourselves.
Rounds, or canons as they are musically called, will be introduced in 2nd grade.
