Melody: We will review the difference between our singing voice, whisper voice, shouting voice and talking voice. We will also learn to read, write, sing and play the pitches La, So and Mi.
Rhythm: First graders will review the steady beat, which is the foundation for all music. We will the steady beat on our bodies, pitched and unpitched percussion instruments. We will soon learn that the steady beat is Ta, which represents 1 beat of sound and rest represents 1 beat of silence. If 2 sounds share 1 beat they are called Ti Ti.
Harmony: 1st grade student will accompany themselves with a steady beat bordun on Orff Instruments (xylophones) as well as speech ostinato (repeated speech patterns).
