There will be a different group of spelling words every week.  The words reflect the phonic rule or sound the students are learning during that week.  The students will have various activities to do every day at home.  Examples for some of the activities are written below.

Cada semana escogemos palabras de acuerdo a la regla ortográfica que estemos aprendiendo.  Ellos necesitan estudiar las palabras durante la semana para que aprendan lo que significan y como se escriben.  Durante la semana ellos tendrán que hacer diferentes cosas con las palabras.  Por ejemplo:

 * write the words 3 times each/escribir cada palabra tres veces

 * identify the vowels and consonants in the word/identificar las vocales y los consonantes de la palabra

 * Rainbow words/palabras escritas en diferente colores

 * Separate the words into syllables/quebrar la palabra en silabas

 * make happy faces (the left eye is the first letter of the word, the right eye is the last letter of the word and the middle letters of the word form the smile)/hacer caritas felices (en el ojo izquierdo va la primera letra de la palabra, en el ojo derecho va la ultima letra de la palabra, y la palabra entera forma la sonrisa)

 * make a sailboat (the first letter of the word is written at the top of the sail, next line has the first and second letter of the word until, the third line has the first, second, third letters, continue until you have written the whole word)/hacer barcos (deletrean la palabra agregando una letra en cada línea hasta que escriban la palabra entera en la vela del barco, después escriben la palabra entera en el barco)

 * write sentences correctly/escribir oraciones usando las palabras correctamente

 * write a rhyming word/con que rima?  (deben escribir una palabra que rime; si no es posible pensar en una palabra verdadera que rima pueden inventar una también;  lo importante es que entiendan el concepto de las rimas)
