Kindergarten Homework

We are ready to start our homework calendars! These calendars (along with the corresponding work packet) are secured in the middle of the homework folders that are in your child’s backpack. Each day will have assignments for the students to complete.  Some assignments are written while others are activities for your child to do orally or with materials at home. All written assignments have a page in the packet for your child to complete the work. Please help your child complete the work each Monday through Thursday night and return the folder every Friday so that I can check the week’s work. I will send the folders home again the following Monday.   Below is an example of how the calendar matches the work packet.

You will also find a book list for each month in the homework folder.  Your child will be reading in a group with me on a regular basis.  This is called a Guided Reading Group!   After they complete a guided reading group with me, I will send the book we are working on home for them to read to you.  Please write the title of the book on the line and initial that you were able to listen to your child read.  Guided reading books are purchased by Country Place and need to be returned the next school day!

Please do not hesitate to ask questions if you are unclear about the homework and/or reading list procedures…that’s what we are here for!!

Thank you for your help! It’s going to be a great year!

Guided Reading Books!

Guided reading books are coming home.   Each time I meet with your child's reading group I will be sending home a guided reading book. Please read this book with your child and send it back to school the following day!  I will be unable to send your child's new books home until the checked out book is returned!  There will be a parent letter in the book bag with instructions!  Thank you so much for helping your children to succeed in reading! Also, remember to record the book on your child's reading log in their homework folder.
