UIL Contest

The 2008 Region 24 Middle School UIL Festival marked several important milestones for the BBMS Band Program.  For the first time in its eleven year history, BBMS was able to send both the Symphonic Band and the Concert Band to the Festival.

The Symphonic Band participated in the Varsity Contest held on the Wakeland HS campus in Frisco.  The Band received an overall rating of Superior in Concert and an overall rating of Superior in Sightreading from each of the six judges.  This rating is called a Sweepstakes because the group receives a superior rating in the Concert and Sightreading portions of the Festival.  The Band played well and received good comments from the judges and audience members.

The Symphonic Band performed General Lee March by K. L. King edited by Dave Henning, Three on the Isle (Mvts. 1 & 2) by Hugh Stuart and Overture on a Minstrel Tune by Pierre LaPlante.

The Concert Band participated in the Non_varsity contest held on the Little Elm HS campus in Little Elm.  The Band received an overall rating of Superior in Concert and Sightreading, and was recognized with a Sweepstakes award.  Our Concert Band performed well and received many great comments.

The Concert Band performed March from Symphony No. 2 by Tchaikovsky arranged by Longfield, Stratospher by Beckham and Courtlandt County Festival by Owens.

The BBMS Bands were the only CFB Middle School Bands to receive Sweepstakes for all of their bands at the Festival.  The RHS Band Cluster was the only cluster to have all Bands receive a Sweepstakes Award at UIL.
