| The BBMS Band
program presented the Taste of Ranchview Supper and Concert on Tuesday, May
3rd at Ranchview High School. This was the third annual Taste of
Ranchview Concert/Supper and saw a tremendous growth in attendance. The Sixth Grade Band, Concert Band and Symphonic Bands presented music that they had been working on during the past few months. The crowds were very large and appreciative of the hard work of the both the students and the directors. The Band performed Foxboro March by John O'Reilly and Columbia: In Memoriam by Dave Henning. Columbia: In Memoriam received its' World Premier at Sandy Lake Funfest in April 2005. The students enjoyed working on this song and really enjoyed knowing a composer. This work will be published in Fall. The Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Henning, performed: Laredo March by J. Higgins; Stratosphere by D. Beckham, Sr and Creed by W. Himes. The Concert Band has shown great improvement during the year and did a great job on Creed, a Grade 2 piece. The Band performed the following selections: Coast Guards March by King arr. by Swearingen; Prairie Schooner by B. Preuninger and West Highlands Sojourn (Mvts. 1, 2 & 3) by R. Sheldon. The Symphonic Band received Superior ratings at both UIL and Peak Music Fest on these selections. Ranchview High School had several groups that performed on the Concert. The RHS Drumline and Color Guard performed for the parents and students as did the RHS Symphonic Band. This group received a Superior rating at the UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest in April. The RHS Band program is under the direction of Loy Studer and Jason Williams. To see information about the RHS Band, click on the following link. |
