The BBMS Band
had two students selected to the CFB Middle School All-District Band.
Middle School band students from throughout the C-FBISD meet in October
to audition for the All-District Band. BBMS was fortunate to place
two members in the 1999 MS All-District. Kristen Miller, a seventh
grade band member and Luigi Marques, an eight grade member, were selected.
Kristen plays the Oboe and Luigi plays the Euphonium. In December,
these two students met with the rest of the All-Distrct Band at RL Turner
HS for rehearsals and a concert.
The BBMS had one player selected to the All-Region MS Band. Luigi Marques plays the Euphonium and was selected through area auditions to perform with the All-Region Band. Luigi had joined the BBMS Band in 1998 as a Seventh Grade Beginner. During his seventh grade year, he worked very hard. As an Eighth Grade student, Luigi was first chair in the BBMS Symphonic Band all year and capped his year with his selection to the All-Region Band. Luigi was the first BBMS Band Member ever selected to the All-Region MS Band. Everyone at BBMS is extremely proud of his accomplishments and will be sad to see him go to high school. |

The BBMS Symphonic Band performed at the Region 20 Middle School Band UIL festival in April. The Band was classified as CC Non-varsity for the contest. The Symphonic Band received an overall rating of Excellent in Concert and a overall Superior rating in Sightreading. This marked the first time in the school's short history that the Bronco Band had received a Superior rating in any part of the UIL contest. I was very proud of how hard the students had worked to achieve this goal. The students came in for sectionals prior to school and after school. At UIL, the
Symphonic band performed: Gold Medallion by John Emondson;
Sea Song Triology by Anne McGinty and Train Heading WEst and Other Scenes
by Timothy Broege.

The BBMS Band Program performed their Winter Concert in conjunction with the December BBMS PTA meeting. The concert was well received by the parents and BBMS Staff in attendance. This was the first public performance for the Sixth Grade Band. The Members were a little nervous but did an excellent job at the performance. They performed some of their Warm-up Exercises, Old Macdonald Had A Farm arr. Higgins and Ode to Joy by Beethoven/Higgins. The Symphonic
Band closed the concert with several well received selections. Even
with a few members were participating in the CFB Basketball Tournament,
the Band was well received by the audience and received a standing ovation
at the conclusion of their performance. Their selections included
Rudolph's Holly Jolly Rockin' Christmas March arr. Edmondson, Canterberry
Overture by McGinty and Santa at the Symphony arr. Williams.
