Darrell Crowder

   Mr. Crowder is in his eighth year as Director of Bands at Barbara Bush Middle School.  Mr. Crowder has thirty-one years experiences as a High School and Middle School Band Director in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.  His bands have consistently received superior ratings at contest. 

Since 2003, the Bush Middle School Band has been a state finalist in the Outstanding Performance Series competition sponsored by the Association of Texas Small School Band.  In 2004,  the Band was a State Winner in the 'CC' March category and a Runner-up in the Concert category.  In 2005, the Band was named the State Winner in the 'CC' Concert category and the Runner-up in the 'CC' March categroy.

Mr. Crowder has served in several organizations at both the District and State level.  He has been an adjudicator and clinician in Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.


   Mr. Crowder's professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Association of Texas Small School Bands and Phi Beta Mu.

   Mrs. Crowder is currently the Director of Bands at Vivian Field Middle School.  Mr. and Mrs. Crowder have three sons.  Ben the oldest, lives and works in Dallas.   The Twins, Kristopher and Kolin, are attending universities in Texas.
 

Dave Henning

Barbara Bush Middle School is proud to have Dave Henning as the Assistant Band Director at BBMS.  Mr. Henning has been the Assistant Director since 2003. 

Mr. Henning has taught at the High School and College level and is affiliated with several professional orgranizations.  His bands have won much acclaim for their level of success.

Mr. Henning has many works published for both marching and concert bands. 

 

Charles Moon
 

Mr. Moon is currently in his 14th year of teaching band.  He graduated from Hanna High School in Brownsville, Texas where he was a TMEA All-State percussionist.  Mr. Moon taught for 7 years in the Brownsville Independent School District.  He then directed the Miller Jordan Middle School Band in San Benito, Texas for 2 years.  He then moved to San Antonio and taught at Roosevelt High School (North East ISD) for three years.  He then moved to Denton, Texas and was the Associate Director of Bands at Denton High School.
 

Mr. Moon’s ensembles received consistent 1st division, superior ratings, at UIL Marching, Solo and Ensemble, and Concert and Sight-Reading Contests.  While in Brownsville, his marching bands advanced to Area competition on three occasions.  His middle school band program, consisting of over 500 students, was awarded UIL Sweepstakes awards and was named outstanding CC Band at numerous band festivals around the State of Texas.  The Miller Jordan Middle School Wind Ensemble was also the region runner-up for TMEA Honor Band taping.
 

His students have consistently placed in the Texas music Educator’s Association (TMEA) district bands, region orchestras, region bands, area orchestras, area bands, and the Texas All-State Band.  Mr. Moon has been named to the Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers on three occasions.
 

Mr. Moon received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1993.  In 2004, he received a Master’s of Music – Instrumental Conducting degree from Texas State University.  He has studied conducting with Mr. John Stansberry, Dr. Joey Martin, Mr. David Mairs (San Antonio Symphony), Dr. John Silantien, and Dr. Robert Rustowicz.


Kevin Graham
 

Mr. Kevin Graham is in his sixth year of teaching band.  He will serve as the Associate Director of Bands at Ranchview High School.  Previously, he served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Pflugerville High School in Pflugerville, Texas and in the Lockhart Independent School District cluster in Lockhart, TX.

Mr. Graham attended Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education.

He has performed with various bands in the Corpus Christi and Austin area.  These included Rudolph Llanes and Ritmo Caribe led by Gustavo Torres. He is originally from Port Lavaca, Texas, where he graduated from Calhoun High School. Mr. Graham was a member and educator of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, in Denver, Colorado.  Additionally, he was an educator for the Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps in San Antonio, Texas.  Mr. Graham’s young education career has seen much success at all levels from Junior High through Drum Corps International competition.  His bands have consistently been awarded the UIL Sweepstakes Awards.  In 2002, while on the brass staff, Revolution Drum and Bugle Corps won the Division III Drum Corps International World Championship.  That same year, the horn line won the coveted ‘high brass score’ caption for having the highest brass score that year. 

Mr. Graham’s personal, professional, and musical mentors have included his parents, Danny Graham and Lea Anne Miller, his grandparents, J.R. and Lucille Gaskamp, Steve Rogers, Joey Lucita, John Farone, Dr. Jeffery Stannard, Dr. Norm Weinberg, Dr. Jack Burt, Dr. Scott Hanna, Dr. Mary Ellen Cavitt, Andy Smart, Bobby Lopez, O.D. Wilson, Greg Goodman, and Terry McKinney.
