CHS Band Texas Sweepstakes Winner

The Creekview Band traveled to Flower Mound High School on Wednesday and Thursday, April 08-09, 2009 to compete in the UIL Region 24 Concert and Sight-Reading competition.

Here is  how UIL adjudicates bands.

UIL rates bands on a 5 level rubric of:

I           Superior           (TEA equivalent = Exemplary)

II          Excellent           (TEA equivalent = Recognized)

III        Good                (TEA equivalent = Acceptable)

IV        Fair                  (TEA equivalent = Unacceptable)

V         Poor                 (TEA equivalent = no TEA equivalent)

The Creekview Wind Symphony and Symphonic I Band earned 1st Division, Superior, ratings by all 6 judges at the competition.  By earning 1st Division, Superior, ratings in both Marching Competition (Fall semester) and Concert and Sight-Reading (Spring Semester), the Creekview Band earned the coveted Texas Sweepstakes Award.  This is THE highest award that the State of Texas can bestow upon a band.

These ratings marked the 14th consecutive 1st Division, Superior, ratings that the Creekview Band has earned in the 2008-2009 school year.  The students hope to add even more following their trip performances on Friday of this week.

Please congratulate the band students on their tremendous success.
