Creekview Band Superior

On Saturday, October 10, 2009, the Mustang Band competed at the Music For All Bands of America Marching Competition at the UTA Stadium in Arlington.  Braving the cold weather and illness issues that the group dealt with, I am proud to announce that the Mustang Band received a first division rating from the 7 member adjudicator panel.

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, The Mustang Band competed in the UIL Region 24 Marching Competition at Standridge Stadium.  Texas bands compete in two large group UIL events during each school year.  In the fall, bands compete in UIL Region Marching Competition.  In the spring, bands compete in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Competition.

The bands are not competing against each other; they are competing against a set standard.  They are judged by highly qualified adjudicators from around the state and nation.  The marching band is judged on Tone (individual &group), Musicianship (individual & group), Marching Execution (individual), March Drill & Integration (group).  Bands earn a rating based on the above criteria.  The UIL ratings are as follows:

UIL Rating

TEA Equivalent

I (superior)

Exemplary

II (excellent)

Recognized

III (good)

Acceptable

IV (fair)

Unacceptable

V (poor)

no TEA equivalent

The Mustang Band students earned three First Division, Superior, Ratings from the judges.  This is the highest award that can be earned by a high school band program in Texas.  Please congratulate all of the band students on their tremendous success this season.  We, as a staff, are very proud of all of them!!!
