Enrollment Procedures

Proof of Residence for "New Student Enrollment"

Residing within the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD boundary is required to attend school in this district. Children should go to school where the parent resides.

The District requires "Proof of Residency."
This proof can be the three items below showing name of resident:

current utility bill (i.e. electric, water, gas) or Cable bill
Lease/contract or mortgage payment showing name and address, or a tax statement showing recent payment on the house
Other: (driver's license, bank statement, voter's registration, etc. reflecting current address) or another current utility bill

Procedures

Do not send the family to the Office of Student Services IF
- Adult name appears on birth certificate of student being enrolled
- A court document designates him/her as managing conservator, legal guardian, or foster parent
- The adult has a document from Child Protective Services (CPS) indicating the child is placed in that home and may be enrolled in school by that person.

If the adult is not the parent and has not been appointed guardian by a court or CPS, the adult must report to the Office of Student Services to apply for an Admission Hearing.

Requirements:

Notarized letter from the student's parent. This must include:

Parent/Legal Guardian Name, Student Name, Date, Educational Custodian's Name and address.

Specific mention must be made of giving the Custodian all rights for care of the student or the medical and educational rights to the Custodian.

The letter must have the educational custodian's current address and proof of that address; the original lease/proof of mortgage (mortgage payment coupon) can be used. The county tax statement can also suffice.

One other proof of residency - Current utility bill (electric, gas or water)
