Grade 1 Social Studies - Unit VIII Overview

Jobs People Do

In Unit VI students will examine characteristics of our basic economic system -- jobs, needs and wants, goods and services, buyers and sellers, and trading (markets). Students will explore the jobs that contribute to the production of goods and services, and they will trace the sequence in the manufacturing process. Students will also look at ways people work to meet their needs and wants as well as ways work has been changed by technology. They will begin to develop an understanding of the value of money in our world.
