Matter and Energy
In the
ninth unit, Matter & Energy, the students will describe
and compare how thermal energy is absorbed or released
when matter changes state. Students will be able to
write chemical equations describing these reactions. The
students will determine the heat capacity for a variety
of substances and relate heat capacity to specific heat.
Critical Questions:
- How do you determine if a chemical reaction is
endothermic or exothermic?
- In what way does specific heat relate to heat
capacity?
