Grade 7 Science - Unit IX Overview

Ecosystems

In the unit on Ecosystems, students will study relationships between organisms and their environment. Students will recognize components of an ecosystem and understand how different organisms interact in an environment. Students will also describe the varieties of organisms that are supported by various biomes.

Critical Questions
  • What are the components of an ecosystem and what relationships do they have with their environment?
  • What resources are utilized by inhabitants of a particular environment?
  • What are some changes that can occur in a given area and how do these changes affect the organisms that live there?

Suggested Time Frame: 4 weeks
