In the unit on Properties of Matter, students will identify and differentiate between physical and chemical properties of matter. Students will be able to identify and demonstrate chemical changes that exist in everyday life. In addition, students will identify how properties are used to position elements on the periodic table and recognize that elements make up compounds.

Critical Questions
  • What examples of chemical change are evident around us?
  • What is the relationship between properties of elements and the arrangement of elements on the periodic table?
