Grade 2 Science - Unit IV Overview

Interactions

The Interactions unit will guide students in observing and explaining how objects interact when they act on each other. Students will investigate and explain that systems are composed of interacting parts with energy inputs and outputs as well as changes over time to include systems producing sound. Students will also observe and investigate interactions that cause change to materials such as ice cubes melt when heat is interacted.

Critical Questions:
  • Could some parts be removed from this system without changing it?
  • How do scientists make observations?

    Suggested Time Frame: 3 Weeks
