English IV Language Arts - Unit II Overview

This six weeks will focus on the characteristics of Elizabethan drama and the historical significance of the Renaissance era in Great Britain. Students will be given the opportunity to research a given topic and construct an error-free paper through which they will learn various research tools including how to incorporate and document sources effectively.

Critical Questions:
  • What are the characteristics of Elizabethan drama?
  • How does British history influence it?
  • How does the tragic hero play a role in Elizabethan drama?
  • How do key literary elements help to convey the meaning in Elizabethan drama?
  • What writing and documentation strategies must be mastered to construct an error-free research or analysis paper?
