Knowledge and skills: What students understand/comprehend and can do related to the topic of study

 

Innovation and application: Demonstration of knowledge and skills creatively in an original product

 

Analysis and synthesis: Thinking processes in which whole topics are separated into their constituent parts for study and reconstituted to form a new, coherent whole

 

Ethics/unanswered questions: Judge, evaluate and consider issues and unanswered questions related to a topic of study

 

Multiple perspectives: Identify and understand multiple points of view

 

Methodology and use of resources: The use of principles, procedures, practices, and references of the field of study to guide, but not to limit, the project

 

Communication:  The use of written, spoken, and technological media to convey new learning

 

Relevance and significance:  The potential impact of the project on the individual student and other social groups

 

Quality of work: Final product exemplifies a high level of learning in each of the relevant categories, i.e. – knowledge, skills, communication, etc.

 

Task commitment: Follow – through to completion of quality product in the area of study

Depth: Investigate the layers of experience within a discipline through the language of the discipline, details, patterns, trends, unanswered questions, rules, big ideas, and ethical considerations

 

Complexity: Expanding understanding within the discipline – Relationships in, between, across disciplines – Extend content through the study of themes, and problems, and issues
