BBMS Student News for 2008-2009

Prior Years' Student News

April 2009: Symphonic & Concert Bands win Sweepstakes performances

The tradition of excellence continues!! For the first time in the history of BBMS, both our Symphonic & Concert Bands received Sweepstakes trophies for their performances in the UIL contest on April 1 & 2. This is a tremendous accomplishment. Our Band Directors, Mr. Crowder & Mr. Henning, have been tirelessly working towards this goal for many years & the hard work and dedication of all band members paid off. UIL is the most important event of the year for bands in the State of Texas--it's their TAKS test--and a 1st Division, Superior rating is the equivalent of an “EXEMPLARY”. We are proud of our bands and proud to add this to the string of trophies on display in the band hall.

Nov 2008: Choir Students selected for TMEA All-region Choir

On Sat Nov 1, TMEA Region 24 All-Region auditions were held at Timber Creek MS in Grapevine. This process is quite difficult, and there were over 250 students auditioning. We had two students make the All-Region Choir for 2008-2009: Dejah Thomas, 8th Grade Women’s Choir, and Chelsea Roberson, 7th Grade Women’s Choir. These ladies will be attending a clinic on Nov 15 & the concert will be held at 6:00 pm that evening at RL Turner HS (admittance is free).
