Get Connected!

Connect with students, teachers and programs at Newman Smith High School by completing the form below.

We need your help as parents in the business community to help our students answer the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”  C-FB helps students answer that question through the Professional Pathways Program whose mission is “to encourage all students K – 16 to explore their interests, skills and career goals in both academic and real-world settings through relevant curriculum and links to businesses and the community.”  All careers fall within one of seven Pathways: Agricultural Science; Art, Communication and Media; Business and Marketing; Health Science; Human Development, Management and Services; Industrial and Engineering; and Personal and Protective Services

Our students experience “real-world settings” through career days, internship placements, co-operative placements, and classroom speakers.  Curriculum can become more “relevant” when teachers shadow a business for part of a day to see how the subject they teach is used in the world of work and when teachers can interact with businesses through an advisory board.
