ABOUT ME

Transition Specialists provide the
bridge for our special education students from high school into their post
secondary life. They help the students plan realistic goals that will
lead them to being contributing members of society in their adult life.
Responsibilities:
-
Interview students in the 8th grade and
prepare their 4 year course of study for entry into high school.

Have Career Planning Meetings (CPM) with
all High School students in Special Education before their annual ARD.

Be a source for students regarding
disability awareness and to help train them to be their own self-advocate.

Explore job opportunities and set up VE
sites for students in the Vocational Experience classes.

Assist work-study (OJT) students in finding,
securing and helping them to be successful in their jobs.

Monitor the progress of the work-study
(OJT)
students and communicate with their employers.
-
Counsel with the 12th graders as they
plan and pursue their
post-secondary goals.
