My Daughter

College Graduate!

Hello!  My name is Michelle Davis and I am proud to say that I grew up in CFBISD!  I attended Janie Stark and McCoy Elementary Schools.  I had Mr. Cunningham for a PE coach at Dan F. Long and I graduated from Newman Smith.

Dan F Long is the starting place for my art career.  I took eighth grade art and fell in love.  As I transferred to high school I continued to take art classes for three years. Once I started college I didn't really think a career in art was feasible.  I changed majors many times:  Dance, Business, Psychology and Marketing.  Nothing seemed to be filling my desire for a fulfilling career.

I took many corporate jobs to support my daughter while going to college part-time.  I worked in analog and digital wireless for 7 years and was part of the ground-breaking launch of the digital cell phone system here in Dallas.  After becoming frustrated with office, sales and management jobs I decided to look for a new career.  My daughter started Kindergarten at Furneaux so I began to volunteer.  That's when I recalled my childhood, and remembered how much I had enjoyed "playing" teacher.  I decided to quit my job and start substitute teaching.  I substitute taught for 2 years until I became Furneaux's Learning Center Manager.  I continued as the L.C. Manager for 3 years while I went to college.

I took many studio art classes at Brookhaven and the University of North Texas before graduating from American Intercontinental University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communications.  My minor is in Digital Design.  I completed teaching certification at Dallas Christian College in Farmers Branch.   

In my spare time I cherish the moments with my daughter who is starting her first year of college and an artist as well.  I like to paint and work with clay.  In the past couple of years I have started painting large murals.  (SEE WORK)   Together we have 5 cats and a rabbit.  We love to take cruises, snorkel the oceans and travel the world to appreciate other cultures.

My future dreams include building a house, starting a no-kill cat rescue organization, as well as creating my own art school and studio.
