C-FB IAQ, Energy Awareness
&
Recycling Programs

This web site has been developed to help promote Indoor Air
Quality and Energy awareness to teachers, staff, students and the
general public. For examples of the best IAQ practices, please
click on “TEAMS.”. While we are NOT trying to tell you that you
cannot have certain items in your room or homes, we are only
trying to bring to light some of the problems associated with
items such as plug-ins, small refrigerators and plants. These
things all have their uses but we must remember that any number of
things either singularly or in combination can pose itself as a
respiratory irritation. It’s sometimes hard for those of us that
are not asthmatic to think about all the different triggering
mechanisms that can cause someone to have an attack perhaps even a
severe attack.
Energy
Did you know that the second largest annual expense for most
school districts is the cost of utilities? Do you have any idea
what an average year’s cost is to provide electricity for lights
in your classroom, your mini refrigerator, the coffeemaker that is
left on all day, the computers, etc.? Energy conservation is a
process that requires effort from all of us.
Conserving energy doesn’t mean that you have to sit in the dark
and it doesn’t mean that you have to do without all of life’s
little amenities that you now enjoy. All YOU have to do is be
aware of what you, as an educator, can do to help the district
save money on energy. Making small changes and being more
responsible by turning off room lights, computers, coffeemakers,
etc. can make a huge difference and save the district hundreds of
thousands of dollars over the long run.
This website has been set up for you, the educators of our
children, to help you learn more about what you can do to save on
energy consumption and save money not only in our schools, but
hopefully also in your own homes while setting a good example for
our children to follow. Isn’t that what we are all here for…to
EDUCATE and LEARN?
